Four Ideas for Helping Your Car’s Tires to Last Longer

Your car’s tires get worn pretty quickly, but there’s a lot that you can do to make sure that they last as long as possible. Cary’s Auto Service can help you with scheduling all of these services for your car’s tires.

Get Your Tires Rotated Every Few Thousand Miles

Tire rotation is a tire service you might overlook, but it’s pretty important. Not every car or tire setup requires or even recommends rotation. But if your car manufacturer does recommend rotations, it’s a good idea that you don’t skip them. Tire rotations done as recommended helps to keep tire wear even so that your tires last as long as they should.

Make Sure the Tires Get Balanced, Too

You probably get your tires balanced every time you get a set of new tires, but there are other times you should get them balanced. Tire balancing ensures that as the wheel spins, it and the tire are doing so at a consistent speed all the way around. Changing that weight changes how the wheel moves, and that can be a problem that creates more wear in some spots.

Wheel Alignments Are Important, Too

The third big wheel service you need to make sure you’re getting done regularly is wheel alignment. Wheel alignment affects your car’s gas mileage, how hard your car’s engine works, and the life of your tires. It’s something that most people put off, but you really shouldn’t. Getting regular wheel alignments helps to protect your entire car.

There Are Also Things You Can Do in Between Service Visits

But there’s more that you can do, too. In between service visits, you can and should check the tire pressure on all of your car’s tires. If you’re not sure exactly what the proper tire pressure is for your car’s tires, that information is in a couple of spots. You can check your car’s owner’s manual, but it might be faster to look at the sticker on the inside of the driver’s side door. You should also take a quick look at the tread on each tire periodically so you can keep track of tread wear.

You’re not in this alone with your car’s tires. Let Cary’s Auto Service in Tempe, AZ help. We’ll make sure that your tires start out properly aligned and balanced and we can help you to stay on top of those services over time, too.
